Symptom 8: Cognitive Difficulties – The Foggy Haze
Lyme disease can often lead to cognitive difficulties, a symptom sometimes referred to as “Lyme brain” or “brain fog.” This can manifest as memory problems, difficulty concentrating, or feeling mentally “foggy.”
This isn’t just occasional forgetfulness or a momentary lapse in focus. It’s a noticeable and often distressing decline in cognitive function that can impact daily activities, work, and relationships.
Cognitive difficulties in Lyme disease can be subtle and may be mistaken for stress or age-related cognitive decline. However, when occurring in conjunction with other symptoms of Lyme disease, cognitive difficulties can be an important sign of the disease. (*)
