Sign 5. Shaking and Trembling: The Unwanted Shivers
Number five on the warning list is shaking or trembling, a common sign of low blood sugar. It’s when you experience an uncontrollable shaking in your hands, legs, or even your entire body. This symptom is often one of the first to appear when your blood sugar levels are falling.
Much like the other signs, shaking or trembling is your body’s response to low blood sugar. The decrease in glucose levels can send your nervous system into a frenzy, leading to involuntary shivering or trembling. It’s your body’s alarm system, telling you it needs more fuel.
These shakes can come on suddenly, even if you’re sitting or lying down. They might be mild at first, gradually increasing as your blood sugar levels continue to drop. You might notice your hands shaking as you hold something or feel a trembling sensation coursing through your body. (*)
